The Group is constantly revisiting the ways it develops “new talent” entering the organization, as well as, the development of potential leaders. We believe that nurturing and developing the knowledge resources within our company can give us significant advantage. Our commitment to building excellence has taken the form of the viable Star and Mentorship Programmes.

The Group’s Mentorship Programme is designed specially for our Graduate Trainees as they enter the world of work and new managerial and professional employees. We have recognized mentoring as an increasingly vital component in our business toolkit. Being a new employee has with it tremendous challenges and uncertainties. Our mentors are there primarily to coach, facilitate, counsel or assist the mentee/protégé in establishing networks.

We want to build that feeling of trust and open-ness from the word “go”. New employees must become part of the Group’s culture and environment, and the mentor will help provide that support and safety valve to individuals as they enter the Group’s unfamiliar territory and build relationships within the organization. Our Star Programme identifies those truly gifted persons who are able and willing to accept the challenge of leadership. This is one component of our leadership development that aims at the accelerated development of young/senior professionals who have all been assessed as suitable for senior managerial and executive responsibility within a 1-4 year period. The specific areas of focus for these potential leaders include strategic management and entrepreneurship, MBA – scholarships and cross posting assignments to our various subsidiaries. As we reinforce a culture of continuous learning in order to improve our people’s abilities, we have committed resources to strategic learning and employee development. Employees in pursuit of any self-initiated training and development related to the competencies required by the Group have our support. With the high cost of degrees and higher education our employees can access financial assistance through our private-study policy.
